Renowned for providing materials that adhere to strict international quality standards, Hemi Metals guarantees that each A286 product boasts excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation, along with long-lasting structural integrity. These bars and rods are crafted using cutting-edge melting and processing methods to ensure consistent properties and superior machinability. Industries that require durable, heat-resistant, and high-strength alloys rely on Hemi Metals’ A286 products for their critical operations and precision-engineered components.
A286 Bars and Rods are constructed from an iron-nickel-chromium superalloy, enriched with elements like titanium, vanadium, and molybdenum to boost strength and creep resistance. The typical composition features 24% nickel, 14% chromium, 1–2% titanium, and carefully controlled amounts of molybdenum and vanadium. A286 showcases impressive mechanical properties, including high tensile strength, good ductility, and exceptional stability up to 700°C. It also offers strong resistance to oxidation and corrosion, along with excellent fatigue strength. The alloy can be solution-treated and age-hardened to achieve outstanding strength-to-weight performance in demanding applications.

A286 bars are available in various sizes, typically ranging from 1/8" to 12" in diameter. Common finishes include hot-rolled, cold-drawn, polished, and ground, depending on the supplier.
A286 alloy, a high-strength, corrosion-resistant steel, can be susceptible to galvanic corrosion when in contact with more electropositive metals, particularly in saline or corrosive environments. Proper isolation is recommended.
Yes, A286 bar can be welded using appropriate techniques, such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) or gas metal arc welding (GMAW), with proper preheating and post-weld heat treatment to avoid cracking.
A286 Bars and Rods find extensive use in high-temperature and high-stress environments where strength and oxidation resistance are crucial. They are commonly used in turbine components, jet engine parts, afterburner hardware, fasteners, exhaust systems, and high-temperature springs. This alloy is also favored in chemical processing equipment, offshore oil and gas components, and aerospace structural parts due to its remarkable performance under extreme conditions. A286’s unique combination of creep resistance, corrosion resistance, and heat stability makes it a top choice for various demanding applications.
