Stainless Steel 416 is composed of about 12–14% chromium, with a carefully controlled carbon content and added sulfur to enhance machinability. While the sulfur boosts cutting performance, it does slightly compromise corrosion resistance compared to SS 410. Typically, SS 416 hollow bars achieve tensile strength between 500–700 MPa after heat treatment, offering good hardness and moderate ductility. This material is magnetic, responds well to hardening and tempering, and maintains excellent dimensional stability during machining, ensuring reliable mechanical performance.
