Hemi Metals is a renowned supplier of Stainless Steel 440C Hex Bars, a high carbon carbon martensitic stainless steel renowned for its excellent hardness and strength Our SS 440C Hex Bars can be hardened by heat treatment , where the temperature is increased to 760 °C (1400°F), where 1010°C There is optional growth to (1850°F), followed by air or oil. These alloy 440C hex bars are primarily used in bearing applications, including circular roller bearings. Our grade 440C hex bar provides excellent corrosion resistance in sensitive domestic and industrial environments, such as freshwater, mild acids, organic matter, and various petroleum products. In addition to corrosion resistance, they provide exceptional strength, toughness and wear resistance when tempered and hardened. Compared to austenitic grades, our Type 440C hex bar exhibits moderate corrosion resistance, similar to Type 304. Hemi Metals’ AISI 440C hex bar is widely used for components that require a balance of good wear resistance and corrosion protection reasonably.
The composition of SS 440C Hex Bars typically includes 16-18% chromium, 0.95-1.20% carbon, 1.00% manganese, 1.00% silicon, and traces of other elements like phosphorus and sulfur. These bars offer excellent hardness, with a tensile strength of around 1000-1200 MPa, and a yield strength of approximately 450-700 MPa. The hardness can reach up to 58-60 HRC after heat treatment. With good wear resistance, SS 440C Hex Bars are suitable for demanding applications requiring high strength, toughness, and moderate corrosion resistance, especially in bearings and industrial components.

SS 440C is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel known for its excellent hardness, wear resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance. These properties make it ideal for applications requiring high strength and durability, such as in bearings, valves, and tools.
Heat treatment of SS 440C involves hardening by quenching and tempering, significantly increasing hardness and wear resistance. Proper heat treatment also enhances corrosion resistance, making the material suitable for demanding applications.
SS 440C Hex Bar is commonly used in bearings, shafts, valves, and tools. Its high hardness, wear resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance make it preferred over other stainless steels for demanding, high-strength applications.
SS 440C Hex Bars are widely used in applications requiring high wear resistance and moderate corrosion resistance. They are usually found in the form of circular roller bearings, shafts, valve components, pump parts and cutting tools. Due to its high strength and durability, these bars are also ideal for high-stress components, such as gears, pistons and fasteners The combination of durability and corrosion resistance makes SS 440C Hex Bars suitable for applications in automotive, aerospace, on the sea, and pharmaceutical industries.
